Wasn’t able to post last night, so here’s the recap. Made the 75 mile trek from Victorville to Joshua tree fairly easy. After talking to a bike shop guy in town, I decided to attempt the 100 mile haul through the remainder of the mojave desert and just camp when I felt like it. There is no service for those 100 miles, so I loaded up with water and food. I ended up making it 70 or so miles on rationed water before the body said no more. I pulled over and rested until sunrise this morning. In total I made it 164 miles in a few under 10 hours. Truth be told, it was exhausting. The desert is unforgiving, the sun is relentless and being in the middle of nowhere for such a long period of time is surreal. Another flat didn’t help either. It wasn’t the best night of sleep, but great star gazing. I awoke early and am now almost to lake havasu city. Going to go for a swim when I get there, because I smell like rotting flesh from yesterday’s desert onslaught.
